The Manifesto Club....

http://www.manifestoclub.com/

The Manifesto Club campaigns against the hyperregulation of everyday life. We support free movement across borders, free expression and free association. We challenge booze bans, photo bans, vetting and speech codes - all new ways in which the state regulates everyday life on the streets, in workplaces and in our private lives.

We believe that the freedom issues of the twenty-first century cut across old political boundaries, and require new schools of political thought, and new methods of campaigning and organisation.

Our rapidly growing membership hails from all political traditions and none, and from all corners of the world. Their support is essential to us. Members contribute financially to enable us to organise events and campaigns, and to release publications. But our membership is also essential to the intellectual, political and organisational work of the club.

Eh...Why?

SO....why is this a good idea?

At least put another sign at the other end of the lane.

This happens all the time.

Zero out of Ten for Originality (At Best)

EEEEEK! The cardinal sin!

Have a look at these:

They all deserve 0 out of ten for originality (at best)...the score decreases if it is a black and white image.

I think that sometimes when people do this, they do it because they think they look good.....they don't do it to look bad, of course. What I mean is they do it because in their opinion, it is better than a portrait of them WITHOUT the camera.

"I'm holding a camera...this is miles better...people will know I'm a photographer"

Or maybe a bit of a dummy.

A photographer I met recently summed this up better than I could when he reflected:

"Yeah, they do it like it's some kind of profound gesture"

Case Closed.

Photovision 2010

OK so it's getting more difficult to do this....

The film is still made in Eastern Europe, and this is a useful resource:

Ghosts

The Nine Inch Nails album "Ghosts I-IV" features very cool photography by Philip Graybill. His work sits together with a style that shows off mundane things as being quite beautiful, and almost dream-like.

Head over to Philip's site to check it out.

Georges Rousse: A Genius

No, it isn't a layer in PShop.

He has PAINTED these shapes within the space in this room so that at one single viewing point, BANG.....it looks like this shape is floating in free space.

Then he takes a photo, then he moves on to another.

Watch the video on his site at:

Not A Crime: The BJP Campaign

Due to increased all-round "nonsense", photography has found itself on the receiving end of unwanted attention from various elements pointing their fingers and tutting en-masse.

Check out the BJP's campaign at: www.not-a-crime.com

Awareness is slowly going in the right direction, but there have been a few unfortunates that have found themselves being subjected to naughty behaviour from those who really should know better.

There are a worrying amount of idiots with power out there who have strange views on photography in public places.

Find somewhere for that shoot you want to do!

Another Blog...so what?

It's really just a place for me to post photo-related stuff I find interesting....sort of like online favourites.

If you like this sort of stuff too then that's good!
